In 2023, PGVM was entrusted with one of the most prestigious movements in the company’s history: transporting The Golden State Coach in preparation for the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III.
Originally commissioned in 1762 for the coronation of King George III, the coach was not completed in time for the ceremony. It was first seen by the public later that year at the State Opening of Parliament, alongside the newly crowned King. Since then, The Golden State Coach has played a part in every British coronation.
Rarely seen in public, the coach had last been used at the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953.
At 264 years old, transporting such an important piece of British history was a responsibility that was not taken lightly. PGVM was trusted to collect The Golden State Coach from its usual resting place and deliver it safely to the Royal Mews, where it would undergo preparations ahead of the Coronation.
It was certainly a movement to focus the mind, and there was only one person for the job. Paul himself rolled up his sleeves and took on the assignment personally, ensuring every detail went smoothly and exactly to plan.
A unique piece of British history, an unforgettable assignment for Paul, and certainly a story to tell the grandchildren for years to come.
